The San Francisco 49ers finally gave permission to quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo to seek trade offers from interested teams. The team was trying to give up Garoppolo for the past six months but were unable to find an interested team.
Since the team has made up their mind to move ahead with the 2021 third overall pick, Trey Lance, they have given Jimmy G the go ahead to seek trade.
Nick Adams feels the 49ers made a mistake by moving on from Jimmy Garoppolo
Jimmy Garoppolo spent four years of his career in New England Patriots as Tom Brady’s backup. Towards the end of the 2017 seasons, the Patriots traded him to the 49ers where he revitalized a 1-10 team and guided them to five consecutive victories. Jimmy G had quite an impact during his time in San Francisco. He led the team to Super Bowl LIV but lost to the mighty Kansas City Chiefs.
Despite being a good quaterback, Garoppolo had to give up most of the 2018 and 2020 season due to injuries. Since Jimmy G had multiple injuries and his performance continued to dip after every injury, the 49ers decided to make Trey Lance as their QB1 and unload the 30-year-old as early as possible.
49ers legend and the greatest wide receiver of all time, Jerry Rice is confident in Lance’s ability to lead the franchise and believes the young and rising star is better than Garoppolo in more than one ways. However, Nick Adams feels the 49ers are making a huge mistake by cutting Jimmy G.
