Indianapolis, June 23 - Indiana native and the world's tallest woman Sandy Allen made a rare appearance Monday. Allen was at the International Kiwanis Convention downtown to sign copies of her book.

She talked about the importance of her friends and family in her struggle. "It's just nice to know someone cares and I've learned I have a lot of really, really good friends. My motto has always been 'don't give up. Keep going.'"

At more than seven feet, seven inches tall Allen faces several medical problems because of her size. She requires a wheelchair and is bed-ridden most of the time.

But she still loves speaking to school children, especially about embracing the differences in others.
