CLINTON COUNTY, Ind. (WTHR) – Indiana State police are investigating a crash involving a reserve sheriff's deputy that killed a Carroll County woman.
It happened on State Road 75 in Clinton County around 8:40 this morning.
State Police believe Sheriff's Deputy William Amsler, 58, had emergency lights and siren on while responding to an emergency call.
But somehow, police say the Camden woman driving the other car went off the road causing a crash.
Amanda Grimes, 40, was killed in the crash.
Police reports say Grimes allegedly overcorrected and traveled across the center line, into the northbound lane of State Road 75.
The police car struck Grimes in the passenger’s side. The vehicles came to rest in the east ditch.
The reserve sheriff's deputy was taken to a hospital to be treated for his pain.
