With the recent release of the Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, players new and old are rushing to return to the land of Hyrule. It is a land lush with loot and danger, which can be daunting to new players. In the early stages of their adventure, players will often find themselves coming face-to-face with danger they cannot defeat - in these situations, the only answer is to rely on healing items and the player's ability to run.

Particularly helpful when faced with unbeatable odds are healing items that replenish health quickly and completely. It could mean the difference between making it out alive and having to respawn at their last save. One such item is the Hearty Truffle, a food item returning from The Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild. The Hearty Truffle is, as the name suggests, a rare mushroom that completely restores a player's health. It can be cooked into a meal to enhance its properties, or eaten raw as a last resort. This guide will go over how to acquire this liquid gold, namely where to find them and tips and tricks for hunting them down.

Caves

Caves are the bread and butter of truffle hunting. Truffles are underground fungi, and prefer temperate, woodland areas to grow in. As mentioned before, however, truffles are a rare plant, and returning to a cave that has already been explored will yield little results. When specifically hunting for Hearty Truffles, it is best if the player marks multiple unexplored cave systems, and plot out a course to hit all of them in a row. Bring plenty of arrows and explosive ammo like Fire Fruit and Bomb Flowers - most caves are inhabited by aggressive creatures, from Like Like plants to groups of Horriblins, and these will make quick work of an unprepared player.

But how would a new player find the entrances to multiple unexplored caverns in a short period of time? The answer: the Satori.

Satori

The Satori is a glowing, horse-like figure that can be summoned by players. It is a returning companion from The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, which was tamable to the player. The player's first introduction to the Satori in Tears of the Kingdom will likely be in the starting area, Hyrule Fields, but on the far left side - players who have unlocked fast-travel to Yamiyo Shrine should use this waypoint. Immediately within view will be a cherry blossom tree standing out from the verdant fields. Here, the player will find Konora, an NPC admiring the beauty of the cherry blossoms. Konora will mention that she was hoping to see a Satori for herself, but the creature can only be drawn out using fruit. From Konora, players should circle the tree until they find a small altar with an empty basin - here, they can hold and drop in fruit of any kind - there are three Fire Fruit trees around the area which will serve for this purpose, though regular apples work just as well.

Once the offering has been made, the player will immediately start to see glowing white lights start dotting the landscape - as many as possible should be pinned on the map, as these are meant to guide players to nearby caverns. Note: Satori will mark all caverns, regardless of if they have been cleared yet, so players should try and avoid visiting those that have already been explored. An offering can be made to Satori as many times as necessary to explore all nearby caverns, and at least one Hearty Truffle should be found in every other cavern - every cavern, for the especially lucky player.

Other Places To Farm Hearty Truffles

Cave-diving might be the quickest and most effective method of hunting down Hearty Truffles, but there are other places to find them. Namely wet, swampy areas of the map - the Rabella Wetlands and North Akkala regions present prime real estate for the fungi. Hearty Truffles will grow here around the bases of trees and in shallow wet caverns. One place that guarantees at least one Hearty Truffle is the Kakariko Village Cave. This cave is found at the top of the second Kakariko Village waterfall and is meant to be used in the quest Out Of The Inn. Players have found up to two Hearty Truffles in this cave, which means completing the quest and pocketing an extra truffle. You can also get your hands on two of them in the Highland Stable Well.

As a last resort, players might look to buy Hearty Truffles - merchants all over the continent have a slight chance of carrying and selling Hearty Truffles to the player. The price will be pretty hefty for the truffle considering it only sells for 6 Rupees, but desperate times call for desperate measures. Again, the chance of Hearty Truffles appearing in merchants' inventories is rather slim, and they likely will only have one or two available to the player. If a player happens to have additional Rupees sitting around, investing in Hearty Truffles to use in gourmet cooking might become a lucrative endeavor.

The Royal Hidden Passage

You can also find 5 truffles in The Royal Hidden Passage, but that is not all. There is a treasure trove of useful items scattered all throughout the Royal Hidden Passage, and it is highly advised you go there after completing one of the main quest's temples. Explore every single room here to gain a feel for all the useful items you will be able to farm such as bomb flowers.
