But the encounter was more memorable for the tactics employed against USA striker Jozy Altidore - who suffered a nipple twist at the hands of an opponent.
Defender Henry Romero was the man in question after choosing to put off Altidore with his bizarre but painful methods.
Altidore did manage to laugh off the incident in the aftermath as his nipples thankfully came off unscathed.
