The former middleweight champion snapped his leg in the opening seconds of his fight with Uriah Hall at UFC 261.

The fight was immediately called off and had to be stretchered out of the octagon and taken to hospital.
He had surgery on the leg and his recovery is coming on leaps and bounds even though it happened a mere five weeks ago.
Weidman posted a video on Instagram of him taking his first unaided steps since the incident.
He wrote alongside it: “I'm walking on my own! Big day baby!! Thanks for all the love and support. Inspired by you all!”

All UFC fans will be delighted to see Weidman making great strides on his road to recovery, as it was one of the nastiest ever witnessed inside the octagon.
Earlier this month, the MMA star revealed he had fears his leg would still have to be amputated.
In a post on social media, he wrote: “I was pretty scared about this pain because I’m thinking about the worst-case scenarios.
“Worst-care scenario is that the blood supply doesn’t come back to my bone and doesn’t take, which would mean possible amputation.”
But it appears the recovery is going well with thousands sending him messages of support across social media platforms.
