Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen wowed the fashion industry when they launched their refined ready-to-wear collection, The Row, in 2006. Today, the line's languid cashmere dresses and mink-tipped coats are on par with the likes of Balenciaga, Rick Owens, and Proenza Schouler. But launching The Row wasn't the Olsens' first foray into fashion: The 28-year-old designers have a longtime love of fashion trends and designers from their days at Full House.
"[On Full House] we'd be in six-hour fittings three times a week, because we had to wear 12 different outfits," Ashley told Net-a-Porter's magazine,* The Edit*, in 2013. "The majority of the wardrobe was made up of adult pieces, including Chanel and Marc Jacobs, cut to fit."
"We were designing clothes for ourselves as we were so petite," Mary-Kate added in the piece. "So I think that is when we became obsessed with fit, and now the obsession has become a profession."
With the Full House reunion in the making, we took a look back at five times the sartorially adept sisters were ahead of the trends on the show. Enjoy!
Matched Sets: Paging Taylor Swift…was Michelle Tanner your first style inspiration? Extremely plausible.
