Indianapolis, Jan. 30 - For more than 20 years the Keystone Plaza Target store was a source of convenience for residents on the near northeast side.

"We need this Target here because all of the rest of them are just so far out," says Hilda Martin.

Friday night, however, the store will close its doors for good. The 85 employees either transferred to other Target locations or left searching for new jobs.

Store manager Jen Greski says the store's closing is simply a matter of dollars and cents. "It wasn't an easy decision to make, but unfortunately we weren't being as profitable as the company would like," a sign of tough economic times that loyal Target customers say isn't fair for all communities.

Brenda Penney was a customer at the store. "It appears that they're constantly taking stores away from the inner city, forcing us to go out to the suburbs to shop and I just think that's too bad."

Most Target customers say Wal-Mart will get their business now, located just three miles north at 71st Street and Keystone.

But for customers who want to shop at another Target, they'll have to travel to the Nora location some six miles away.

Maryland Sheerin says, "If I go out to Nora, I'll spend in gas what I'll save at shopping at Target."

Target is offering some great close out deals. You can find merchandise up to 75% off. Target will be open for one more day, regular business hours Friday from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.
