A Nigerian identified as Charles Ogundele has launched a petition against alternative-musician Olawale Ashimi, better known as Brymo, over his derogatory comment against the Igbos on social media.
He admonished Netizens to sign the petition to prevent the singer from winning in the category that he was nominated at the 2023 All Africa Music Award (AFRIMA).
Last year, Brymo was nominated by AFRIMA in the “Song of the Year” category, and some Nigerians have signed the petition to ensure the singer loses the award.

Netizens have been blasting the musician for making the comment he made about the Igbo tribe of Nigeria, saying they don’t deserve to claim the seat of the President.
Brymo’s comments have sparked criticism from his fellow celebrities and fans, however, the singer stood his ground by retweeting the same couple of tweet that got him in trouble in the first place.
According to Charles Ogundele on the reason he put up the petition, “Brymo recently puts up a series of hateful tweet towards the Igbo community of Nigeria, he went as far as retweeting that all Igbos are senseless.”

He added, “In one of the tweet put out by the singer, he wrote “fck omo Igbo,” which translates to “fck the Igbo people”, his action are ones that sparks disunity and hate in a multicultural nation like Nigeria.”
According to Ogundele, stopping Brymo from emerging winner will send a strong message to the singer, and people like him that they can’t get away with ethnic bigotry.
