The superhero movie niche has gained a huge amount of popularity over the last 15 years or so. The live-action adaptation of Marvel and DC Comics has played a crucial role in the recent surge in popularity.
Speaking of which, every year, there are a few projects that every movie fan fanatic in the world gets excited about. But it seems like 2024 will run on fumes when it comes to having excellent superhero movies. Instead, 2025 will be full of sensational projects in the genre.
Captain America 4, The Batman 2, and Superman: Legacy Headline 2025
As we mentioned earlier, every year there are a plethora of superhero movies that make their way to the big screen. However, among them, there are actually only a few movies that truly have the potential to receive the blockbuster label.
Keeping that in mind, one Twitter user (@therealsupes) pointed out that 2024 is simply a filler year in terms of good movies and games. In response to his own tweet, the Twitter user mentioned some of the biggest projects arriving in 2025.

The list includes Superman Legacy, The Batman 2, Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse, Fantastic Four, Blade, Captain America: Brave New World, and Thunderbolts. While there are other projects, such as Avatar 3 and Mission Impossible DR 2, these movies do not grasp the interest of the fans of superhero movies.
Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse and The Batman 2 will most likely be the highest-grossing films of the year. On the other hand, with James Gunn soft rebooting the DCEU, expectations are insanely high from Superman Legacy as well.
All things considered, 2025 will be jam-packed for superhero movie fans. Hopefully, all the aforementioned projects live up to the hype, otherwise, fans may genuinely start losing interest in the genre.
Are There No Good Superhero Movies Arriving in 2024?
Considering the sheer level of amazing movies planned in 2025, many may believe that 2024 will be an underwhelming year for the genre. However, there are a couple of projects that could make the next year worthwhile as well.
Deadpool 3 remains the most anticipated film of the year. After all, it will feature the dynamic duo of Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool and Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine. Jackman will return to play the iconic role for the first time since 2017. In Logan, Wolverine met a tragic end, so it goes without saying that a different variant of the character will feature in the 2024 film.
Apart from that, The Boys season 4 is expected to release in 2024 as well. Considering the immense success of the previous seasons of the Amazon Prime Video series, everything points toward another insane set of episodes.
Invincible Season 2 part 2 is also slated for a 2024 release date. Keeping that in mind, 2024 may not be as bad for superhero movies and TV shows as many believe.
