Now that the final DLC character of Super Smash Bros Ultimate has been revealed, Masahiro Sakurai can finally relax on social media, and even tweet some Among Us stuff.

Smash Bros director Masahiro Sakurai is an Among Us player
In a new tweet shared on October 23, 2021, Masahiro Sakurai explained how he’s pretty much free now and can share random tweets on social media. Without worrying about every single word and photo being interpreted as hints for future DLC fighters.
Masahiro Sakurai: “Now that the development of Smash Bros is finally over, I don’t have to worry about getting roped into next fighter speculations. I can even post photos like this now with no problems!”.

The popularity of Among Us in Japan
Among Us is actually one of the most popular games in Japan. First off, it’s important to note most people in Japan play the same mainstream games that everyone else plays in the world. Niche games outside Japan like visual novels are niche inside Japan too. It’s all about multiplayer games like PUBG, Fortnite, Apex Legends, Dead by Daylight, or more recently Back 4 Blood.
Moreover, Among Us is pretty much a staple for Japanese streamers and VTubers alongside Undertale and Minecraft. All of this to say you shouldn’t be surprised at all that Masahiro Sakurai is playing Among Us too.
In related news, Masahiro Sakurai also celebrated his birthday by building a gunpla of the RX-105 Xi Gundam appearing in Gundam Hathaway of the Flash. Showing once more how huge of an otaku he is.
Masahiro Sakurai is also ending his bi-weekly Famitsu magazine column after 18 years. He would talk about many subjects in these, not necessarily linked with gaming. He would also regularly talk about the games he played, and recently highly praised 13 Sentinels Aegis Rim by Vanillaware. In fact, Sakurai also talked about Among Us in this column in early 2021.
