Small fire at Walmart extinguished by employee – WSOC TV

GASTONIA, N.C. — Gastonia Fire Department responded to Walmart at 3000 East Franklin Blvd. shortly after lunch Thursday for a reported fire.

Firefighters arrived to find light smoke coming from the back of the building. In a room that housed computer and data equipment, a small fire had been extinguished by an employee with an extinguisher. Firefighters ventilated the building.

No injuries were reported.

There was not an estimate of dollar loss to property or contents. However, there was a lot of smoke damage to clothing and other goods stored in the back room near the fire.

The store reopened in less than an hour.
