Ryan Howard To Defend Home Run Derby Crown in San Francisco – NBC Sports Philadelphia

Watching Ryan Howard belt mammoth home runs never really gets old, not even during the derby.  Despite not being named to the All-Star team, The Big Guy will defend his title as the reigning home run derby champion.

The reigning NL MVP, who was invited back by Major League Baseball,
will participate in the July 9 event at San Francisco's AT&T Park,
and hopes to be in a field with Ken Griffey Jr. and Barry Bonds, two
players he grew up admiring.

"Potentially having those guys in the Derby, it would be ridiculous,"
Howard said. "It will be a power-packed field. I'm going to have fun,
and whatever happens, happens."

I'm going to go out on a limb and say this doesn't hurt his marketability as a superstar endorser of all products humans consume.
