If you happened to be at New York Comic Con and you’re also a Pokemon fan, you may have missed Ash Ketchum’s voice actor as she went undercover to trick unsuspecting people.
Pokémon has been around a heck of a long time and since the 90s, the franchise has gained one of the biggest and most loyal fan bases who live and breathe the series. First released on TV on February 27, 1996, in Japan, it took a little while to catch on in America and Europe but when it did, it became a worldwide obsession.
Taking over from Kayzie Rogers in season nine, Sarah Natochenny has been the voice of many Pokemon anime characters since 2006 which includes Medicham, Baby Kangaskhan, Elesa and, of course, Ash Ketchum. Heading to New York Comic Con recently, Sarah decided to go undercover and source out Pokemon fans to see if any would recognise her.
In between promoting Secrets of the Jungle, the new Pokemon movie, Sarah came up with a hilarious way to pass the time and that’s by running around the center to those cosplaying as a Pokemon’s Ash and seeing who would know she was actually Ash from the anime series.
In the Tiktok video, Sarah is seen running around trying to find Pokemon fans to take selfies with and what makes it even funnier is that no one knew who the hell she was or why she was wanting to get a picture with them. The look of concern and slight panic on their faces is probably one of the funniest moments.

In fairness, unless she puts on her voice for Ash, that’s really not much of a chance for anyone to recognise her unless they are true die-hard fans but it’s certainly humorous to watch people be so close to their idol and not have a clue who they are.
Pokémon the Movie: Secrets of the Jungle is now available to watch on Netflix.
