Defender Kaid's natural leadership skills saw him earn promotion to the rank of Captain within the Royal Moroccan Gendarmerie. When the Moroccan Special Forces, the Kasbah Sehkra Mania, needed a replacement for their commander, Kaid was the most appropriate choice. He's responsible for training the new recruits and has a traditionalist style, believing that too much technology can be a bane. A slow but heavily armoured character, he comes equipped with an Aug A3 assault rifle, TCSG12 shotgun, .44 mag semi-auto pistol, barbed wire, and an impact grenade. As seen in his teaser trailer, his special ability is the Rtila Electroclaw that electrifies defences such as reinforced walls, hatches, barbed wire, and deployable shields. He gets three of these to throw at any surface, where it attaches itself and electrifies everything within a 0.75m radius.
Attacker Nomad is one of Kaid's graduates, having enlisted in the Royal Moroccan Army when she was young. She then joined the GIGR and did several tours with the Mountain Infantry Battalion. Despite this, she also likes her own company and goes on solo expeditions, detailing her trips in her notebook and becoming an expert on environmental operations. Quicker than Kaid but not as well-armoured, she is equipped with the AK-74M and ARX200 assault rifles, .44 mag semi-auto pistol, breach charge, and stun grenade. As seen in her teaser trailer, she also has an Airjab Launcher gadget that attaches to her rifle. This launches repulsion grenades that push enemies back with force, causing temporary disorientation. She gets four grenades and they only detonate when an enemy is in range, so can either be aimed directly at an enemy or stuck to a surface as a trap.
To get a head start on these operators when they finally appear on console, Ubisoft has offered a look at the characters in action while offering some tips and tricks.
Also in the above video was the new Fortress map, the training location for the Kasbah Sehkra Mania, which also doubles up as Kaid's home. As can be expected, the building features traditional Moroccan architecture, although it has been fortified and modified to provide comfortable living quarters. Outside of combat, the fortress offers wonderful panoramic views from its position high in the Atlas Mountains, but being honest, you don't care about that.
As seen in the earlier trailer, players are greeted at the imposing main entrance by two towers. There is lots of open space, cover, and plenty of lines of sight for both long and short range combat. The multiple exterior stairs and ladders offer access to the roof, with drop-down points in the towers. The interior is spread across two floors with two distinct areas. The first is the training space, while the other is the more luxurious living space, intended to be easily distinguishable from each other to allow for easy player orientation.
