Boxer Ryan Garcia made his in-ring return against Oscar Duarte at the Toyota Center in Houston recently. ‘King Ry’, standing at 24-1, and 20 KOs defeated Duarte with a fateful eighth-round TKO. Consequently, the pro boxer enacted an inferior shoulder-roll, channeling his inner 50-0 Floyd Mayweather during the matchup. The boxer is now in active talks for a super fight against Devin Haney.
Garcia rebounded from his only professional loss to Gervonta Davis back in April 2023. On Dec. 20, 2023, Garcia made a stellar comeback with an eight-round KO of Durate. Since his face-off with Davis, Mayweather has been quite the empathizer with Garcia and his skills. Currently, Haney disclosed snaps of his texts with the boxer on the subject of Mayweather as a benefactor. A prominent fan reply read – “Oscar didn’t like that”.
The screenshots from Haney’s Instagram account were reposted on X by Michael Benson, online boxing editor for talkSPORT.com. Mayweather had many a time instigated on being “absolutely willing to sign” Garcia to Mayweather Promotions and even lauded his latest comeback. However, their association was mocked by even Oscar De La Hoya in a reactionary tweet.
Boxing promoter De La Hoya and Garcia were engaged in a prolonged and extensive lawsuit over contractual refutals. However, De La Hoya’s Golden Boy Promotions sponsored his last boxing bout against Duarte. Fans are now of the opinion that De La Hoya’s gibe came at the cost of this association, pointed out by Haney.

Ryan Garcia recently overcame his skid with Gervonta Davis. He won his square-off with Oscar Duarte this December, redeeming his record. Now, the boxer is in talks of a face-off against Devin Haney.
Even Haney himself recently confirmed Garcia’s corner reaching out for the WBC super-lightweight world title contention. Haney became the new WBC super lightweight champion with a dominant victory over Regis Prograis recently.
However, the boxer has not been too keen on Garcia’s linkup with Floyd Mayweather. In one of his recent texts to the opponent.
