Hilda Baci, the Nigerian “Jollof Queen”, seeks to set a Guinness World Record for the longest cook-a-thon.
The multi-talented TV producer and actress planned a four-day cook-a-thon (cooking marathon) from May 12th to 15th.
The Cook-a-thon is an attempt by Hilda, who has demonstrated her culinary skills in many television cooking competitions and won the Jollof Faceoff Competition in 2021, to shatter Chef Lata Tondon’s Guinness World Record of 87 hours, 45 minutes, and 00 seconds set in Rewa, India, in 2019.

The event, which will take place at Amore Gardens in Lekki, will highlight Hilda’s culinary skills through the use of numerous local and transcontinental recipes, with the goal of putting Nigeria on the global culinary map.

At a press conference in Lagos, Hilda, the chief executive officer of “My Food by Hilda,” a fast-food restaurant in Lekki, emphasised the importance of the cook-a-thon as an inspirational platform for young people.
“The Cook-a-thon’s purpose is to inspire every young girl about the potential of reaching her aspirations. This is why I’m trying to set a good example. The cook-a-thon victory is a win for young women across the continent in breaking down barriers and having the capacity to impact,” she said.
