Kadokawa announced a new 15th anniversary project for Yuyuko Takemiya’s masterpiece Toradora, with a new trailer and comments from the staff we detailed below.
The romantic adventures of Taiga and Ryuji made Toradora in 2008 one of the most popular anime of all time, often cited as “the best love story ever told” by fans. Now the original light novel is celebrating its 15th anniversary, with new merch, a special trailer, and an emotional message from original author Yuyuko Takemiya.

Toradora 15th anniversary project so far explained
Dengeki Bunko, the light novel publishing arm of Kadokawa, opened a new page for Toradora‘s 15th anniversary on February 10, 2022. The page revealed a special trailer featuring the anime’s Ending Theme song Orange, and some of the most famous scenes from the novel. You can find the trailer further below.
Furthermore, new comments from the staff and cast of Toradora were revealed. The message from Toradora’s author is particularly interesting as she shared her feelings on the series, and how different it could be if she wrote it now.
Toradora‘s author Yuyuko Takemiya’s 15th anniversary message translated
Yuyuko Takemiya: “”I love romantic comedies, Tsundere characters, and school settings!” That’s the only thing I had in mind when I first started writing Toradora. If I wrote it now, every character would have a smartphone, and Taiga would reveal her dark history by accidentally posting something inappropriate on her main Twitter. 15 years later, I’m still thinking about some of the story’s iconic moments like the cultural festival. I’m really grateful the series is still loved even now.”
The other messages from the staff and cast, including Taiga’s voice, the legendary Rie Kugimiya, all echo Takemiya’s feelings.
No sequel or remake teaser sighted so far
It’s also important to note that as of now there has been no teasing whatsoever regarding a possible Toradora sequel, so don’t get your hopes up. Especially seeing the novel had a conclusive ending, which was adapted in the anime. It’s very unlikely a “Toradora Season 2” will ever happen. Maybe we could get a remake or a post-timeskip sequel tough.
In Japan, Toradora‘s volumes are all getting reprinted as well, and new merch has been announced for the anniversary, including posters and T-shirts. Everything can be found on Dengeki Bunko’s online shop if you’re interested in importing some of the goods.
This is only the beginning of the Toradora 15th anniversary project and more announcements will be coming in the future. How did you feel about Toradora back in the days, and are you expecting some kind of reboot or sequel? Tell me in the comments below!
