Leblanc, who was raised in Santa Barbara, was born at a time when her parents were getting a divorce. She is from a multiracial background, with Acadian, Italian and British roots.
Her father, Matt Leblanc, once revealed that the moment he saw Leblanc when she was born, he was smitten.
“I remember when my daughter was born. The second I laid my eyes on her, I fell in love with her, I had never felt that way before.
“I couldn’t believe it. I knew from that moment nothing could stop me from loving her, even if she folded my Ferrari!
“She can wrap me around her little finger. I’m powerless,” he said.

When Leblanc was about 11 months old, she was diagnosed with a brain disease called Cortical dysplasia.
Cortical dysplasia, also known as cortical malformation, refers to a group of brain disorders characterised by abnormal development of the cerebral cortex, which is the outer layer of the brain responsible for various cognitive functions. These disorders typically occur during early brain development, before birth or in infancy.

Cortical dysplasia can manifest in different forms, ranging from mild to severe. It can affect a specific area of the brain or be more widespread. The exact cause of cortical dysplasia is often unknown, but it is believed to involve a combination of genetic and environmental factors. Some cases may be associated with genetic mutations or certain prenatal infections or injuries.
This left Leblanc’s father heartbroken
He said: “For years and years, I barely left the house. I was burnt out.
“Most actors call their agents and say, ‘What’s going on?’ I’d call mine and say, ‘Please lose my number for a few years’. It was a very dark time. I almost had a nervous breakdown.”
One of the good things about Leblanc’s life is the fact that her condition was detected on time and at an early stage.
As a result of her condition, her father took a five-year-long break from acting just to be with her. During a period, he lived on a ranch in California with her.
Leblanc had treatment and the public was excited to know that she succeeded in outgrowing her condition.
Her father once said, “My daughter was diagnosed with a problem with her head. It was a very dark period.
“But I got through it. Don’t they say what doesn’t kill us makes us stronger?”
Despite the father-daughter bond that Leblanc and her father share, the latter revealed on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, that his daughter is unimpressed with his work on Friends.
“I don’t think she thinks I’m too cool. She can’t be bothered. She just couldn’t care less,” he said.

The couple appeared to be happy together and often attended public events and red carpets, but they generally kept their private life out of the spotlight.
Their marriage faced challenges and in 2006, they announced their separation. According to The Things, McKnight and Leblanc broke up following the former’s admission that he groped a stripper at a nightclub.

The couple officially divorced later that year citing ‘irreconcilable differences’. For McKnight, the divorce was very sudden because she did not anticipate it.
