Linton floral shop leaves free bouquets outside their door to 'brighten someone's day'

This is the time of year where we almost expect to see petals and they add to our enjoyment.

LINTON, Ind. (WTHR) – This is the time of year where we almost expect to see petals and they add to our enjoyment.

But we just don't expect to see them here – along the curb in front of "A Place Called Home Floral and Gifts" in Linton.

The sign on the door tells us why.

The business closed March 24 due to COVID-19 but that did not stop Terry Davis. Every so often, she will go online with a simple post: Take a bouquet. Make someone's day.

"Since we just had our shop close it's doors and just doing funerals we been taking some of the extra flowers that we have and putting them at on the street in bouquets so people can pick thing up and brighten their day," Terry Davis, one of the co-owners of the shop, said.

It certainly didn't take long.

Erin Brewer and her daughter Kaydence were the first to grab a bouquet.

"This is the light of my day," Erin Brewer said. "We've been in quarantine."

This is certainly a good way to help brighten a quarantine kind of a day.

"I am working from home. She is working at home. She's a sophomore. Just found out here softball season is over,” Erin explained.

So where are these flowers going?

“To mom,” Kaydence Brewer said as she handed the bouquet to her mother. “To me," mom celebrated.

Then it was Abygail and Jacob's turn.

"No charge for them, “ Davis said. “Just trying to make people smile during this rough time."

There are going to be some very big smiles when these flowers get home.
