Kristen Bell lets her daughters drink nonalcoholic beer, noting that they prefer it over whatever kids these days drink (is Hi-C still a thing?). She also doesn't care what you think about this particular parenting choice.
On an episode of The Kelly Clarkson Show that aired on Monday, July 25, the Frozen star responded to Clarkson's anecdote about her own child taking a sip of her Champagne as a baby by stating that her girls, Lincoln, 10, and Delta, 8, drink nonalcoholic beer.
“My kids have ordered nonalcoholic beers at restaurants before,” she said confidently while Clarkson laughed uproariously. “Which sounds insane if you don’t know [why], because context is important—we’ve learned that over the last few years.”
She explained that she and her husband, Dax Shepard, used to take long walks around their neighborhood when their girls were babies. “[Shepard] is a recovering addict but he likes nonalcoholic beer, so he’d pop one open,” she continued. “He’d have her on his chest and we’d walk and look at the sunset. So as a baby, she was pawing at it, and sometimes she would suck on the rim of it. So I think it feels to her like something special.”
Bell added that when her daughter first began ordering nonalcoholic beer at restaurants, she thought, “Maybe we don’t…maybe we just keep that for home.” While it might sound weird to people outside her family, Bell said, “you can judge me if you want, I’m not doing anything wrong. Like, that’s your problem.”
