I think keeping the stakes low is a good idea, after all it's not the money it's more about the pish take, at least it is with my regular playing partner, if you pitch the stakes too high it all gets very serious and it's not long before there's a falling out. we play 10p a hole, 50p front nine, 50p back nine , £1 for the full eighteen. We play for £1 nearest the pin on par threes and £1 for the longest drive on the par fives. So plenty of interest and the most I've paid out is around three quid (and I'm absolutly useless) Of course if you play a four ball and you have to pay three out even low stakes could get expensive so ajust accordingly.
