Genshin Impact just released its Version 2.4 with the brand new Enkanomiya subterranean area – however, many players are wondering if the area is permanent or if it will be removed in a future update.
Enkanomiya is a new area only accessible after clearing several optional World Quests outside the Archon/Main Story Quests of Genshin Impact. However, the main story and Enkanomiya’s lore are one and the same. Enkanomiya not only revealed new lore but also confirmed many theories fans had since the game launched.
With that said, Enkanomiya has its own specific world map, and this is similar to the Golden Apple Archipelago of Version 1.6. And miHoYo removed the Golden Apple Archipelago once Version 1.6 ended. Taking this into account, several Genshin Impact players are wondering if Enkanomiya is a permanent map. Or if it will be removed once 2.4 ends.

Is Enkanomiya permanent in Genshin Impact?
miHoYo officially confirmed through the 2.4 live stream and press release that Enkanomiya is a permanent map in Genshin Impact. Unlike the summer archipelago of 1.6, Enkanomiya will always be accessible by players.
Taking this in mind, there’s no need to rush to go through all the exploration and World Quests of Enkanomiya. You have all the time you want to clear it. Though it’ll be best to stay away from social media to avoid spoilers shared by other players.
Note that miHoYo also updated the official Teyvat Interactive Map with Enkanomiya. Though I personally don’t recommend going through Enkanomiya using guides and maps, as I believe exploration is the main source of fun in Genshin Impact alongside the story and lore reveals. If you do need help, however, most notably on how to access Enkanomiya in the first place, you can check out our exploration guides.
