Kareem Muttler was killed Nov. 18 at an apartment complex near South East Street and Thompson Road.
INDIANAPOLIS — IMPD is asking for help finding the person or persons who killed 16-year-old Kareem Muttler.
Police were called to the 5300 block of Turtle Creek East Drive, near South East Street and Thompson Road, Nov. 18, 2022 and found Muttler down outside an apartment building.
Medics transported him to a hospital in critical condition. Muttler died a short time later.
"He was a joy to be around, and it's an unfortunate situation that has taken him away from us," said Muttler's aunt, Rosie Bryant.
Every time Bryant and her family get together, they can't help but think about all the happy memories they could have made with her nephew.
Bryant said it's the simple things she misses most.
"He was just funny, a jokester, and liked to make people laugh," Bryant said.
So far, police have not made an arrest in the case, which Bryant said makes the grieving process harder.
"It's infuriating to know that a person or person's running the street, possibly with a gun in their hand, and they are able to walk around and breathe, but we aren't able to do that with our nephew," Bryant said.

A flyer released by IMPD detectives offers a $1,000 reward for any information that would lead to a felony arrest. Bryant said getting justice would mean a lot to her family.
"For us, it would be really important to make sure the person responsible for this incident is arrested and tried and taken away from society for a period of time, so that we can feel like our community is safe -- so that we are standing up for what's right, for what's happened to Kareem," Bryant said.
She said her family is committed to being a voice, not only for Muttler, but for all people in the community who deserve to feel safe.
"We can all be impacted by gun violence. That's why this is an issue we should work on as a community," Bryant said.
