I Tried It…Wednesday: The Brazilian Blowout

The after effect! No wonder Nicole Richie was twittering!

Shine? Check! Super soft? Check! Frizz-free? Check! Like the hair you only see in commercials? Check!

It's been a week and I'm loving it. There's very little hassle once you leave the salon, besides not being able to use my regular shampoo and conditioner (it's suggested you use the approved Brazilian Blowout Shampoo and Conditioner combo). And the time it now takes me to get ready in the morning is less than it was to wait for my straightening iron to heat up. A few minutes with the blow dryer and my hair is sleek and polished.

But enough about my newly, fabulous hair, let's get down to business talk about your q's….

Can I curl my hair after the Brazilian Blowout, and if so will it hold it any better?

I was interested in finding this out as well and the answer is yes. Using a curling iron and some flexible hold hairspray I curled a few strands and to my delight I had beautiful, loose ringlets. They lasted the same amount of time as before I got the treatment, but we all agreed in the beauty department that my hair actually curled better than before.

Will it cut frizz even if I live by the ocean?

Tons of Josh's clients spend time in Miami and they all swear by the treatment to keep their hair smooth in the city where the heat is on. And I totally agree—I may not live near a beach, but I did put my blowout to the test. The next day I popped in to a friend's concert at a hot, steamy bar downtown (usually a recipe for hair disaster), but lucky for me I left as sleek as I arrived. Then I took it a step further—that night I slept on it and went to the gym the next morning. The results? Hair that's still straight! Take a look:

Will my hair ever return to its natural state?

Yes. Without formaldehyde you are not breaking any bonds in the hair, which means you're not altering it chemically. What it does is create a layer of protein and nutrients around the hair shaft, smoothing the cuticle and protecting the hair from the elements. It rinses out after about three months and your hair is actually left healthier then when you started.

In short, I officially declare this the next best hair thing since Gisele Bundchen's infamous waves!
