“I saved myself an absolute fortune”: Hugh Grant’s Clever Plan Got Foiled After Actor Slipped Up While Posing as His Own Fake Talent Agent

Hugh Grant’s path to success has been the envy of many actors, and it’s clear he’s no slouch. In a surprising revelation, he disclosed that he had conjured up a fictional acting agent named James Howe Ealy, who, unbeknownst to many, was actually just Hugh Grant in disguise. All he needed was a phony email address to make it work.

The actor mentioned that he saved a significant sum, explaining that he had created a non-existent persona. He maintained that there was no real person. It was just him, using a different email. However, he did slip up a few times while faking as his own talent agent.

Hugh Grant Would Mess Up The Name When Drunk

Hugh Grant now has representation from an acting agency, sharing that he decided to step back due to frequent requests for personal meetings as James. Typically, acting agencies receive a 10-20% commission, which could have amounted to a substantial figure.

In a candid conversation on Howard Stern’s SiriusXM show, the actor expressed his belief that engaging in extramarital relationships is crucial for maintaining a strong marriage. The father of four, with two children from his current girlfriend Anna Eberstein and two with his ex-girlfriend Tinglan Hong, remarked that he doesn’t think human nature is predisposed to sustaining “40-year-long monogamous, faithful” partnerships.

Grant told Howard Stern (via YouTube):

“James had to get one the phone one time. I was watching the Gulf and there was Scottish commentator, so I thought right he’s Scottish and I did a pretty bad Scottish accent. Then I started to slip up cuz if I had a drink or two, I’d write emails as James and sign off Hugh.”

He admitted that when he was a bit tipsy, he would mistakenly correspond as James in his emails, eventually signing off as Hugh.

Despite the tempting proposition, the An Awfully Big Adventure actor politely declined the opportunity to join the lineup, indicating that the offer wasn’t sufficient to sway his decision. He graciously conveyed,

“I said well you’re obviously brilliantly talented because I like that show and yes they make brilliant TV shows really but I said I’m too scared to sign up without a script.”

As disclosed in the subsequent interview, he reassured that he never came to rue his choice.
