How parents can use ChatGPT to raise kids – AI expert explains

A tech professional advises parents to go with the “easier” option of using ChatGPT to put their children to bed, organise their birthday parties, and even help with homework.

Celia Quillain, 31, of Atlanta, is advising parents on how to use the language model to make their life easier by enhancing their “ability to ideate and just be creative.”

“If you look through a parenting lens, there are a variety of things you can do with AI that are incredibly helpful,” Quillain, who does not have children, told South West News Service.

She emphasised, in particular, that it can alleviate “the pain of getting children to bed” by creating a personalised bedtime story.

“You can add your child’s name to the story and use artificial intelligence to create a life lesson that they need to learn, such as sharing, but [the programme] makes it engaging and fun because your child can contribute to storytime.

“You can ask the child: Who do you want to be in this story, and who are the characters?”

Quillain also points out that ChatGPT may be a terrific personal assistant, especially when it comes to activities like travel and birthday parties.

For the latter, a parent can use the programme to get ideas for things like themed invitations, décor, colour schemes, activities, party favours, and even refreshments – including dietary requirements.

When asked to “explain simply” a variety of academic subjects, AI can assist young pupils with their schoolwork.

“There are a lot of things that AI can accomplish that are quite useful when viewed through the perspective of parenting,” she said.
