Most of the show's wardrobe is pretty perfect (Tina Cohen-Chang's dead-on "Gothic Lolita" Japanese teenager thing? Pure genius!), but it's Rachel that makes me alternately cringe and clap like it's my job. If there's a stereotypical nerdy chick wardrobe item out there, she will find it and wear the heck out of it: Knee socks, houndstooth skirts, argyle sweater vests, pleated plaid minis, headbands, ribbon belts, penny loafers...it's like the wardrobe department created a checklist of "How to look like a precocious teenager who thinks she's much more mature than she is in 10 easy steps" and has just been ticking them off, one by one. And the fact that Lea Michele is such a drop-dead stunner on the red carpet and embodies sophistication off-screen just makes her Glee wardrobe that much more brilliant.
