Salvatore Ferragamo: Last year, on the 35th birthday of the Vara and Varina, the legendary Italian design house debuted the revolutionary option to customize the classic mid-heel and flat styles. You have the option to choose the material (tweed or patent), plus colors of the upper sole, the signature grosgrain ribbon, and the block heel on the Vara. And to make your shoes truly yours—engrave your initials onto the gold or silver hardware. Pricing is $595 for the Varina and $625 for the Vara. Custom orders take seven to nine weeks for delivery.
Jimmy Choo Made-to-Order Service: In April, the iconic shoe label launched the Made-to-Order service, which soft-launched during the reopening of the Los Angeles flagship boutique. Choo diehards now have the option to customize the label's four top styles—the Anouk pump, the crisscross Lance, the ankle-strappy Xenia, and the barely there Tite—as personally selected by creative director Sandra Choi. Personalization options include sole color, heel height, materials (think: buttery suedes, shiny satins, plush leathers, and exotic skins), and color-ways. Plus, you can embed your initials into the soles. Hey, so if someone steals your heels at a baby shower, you can easily identify them. (Sex and the City reference, and I know Carrie lost her Manolos, but anyway.) Throughout the rest of the year, Made-to-Order will slowly roll out to New York City and then all newly reopened boutiques, including Dallas and Las Vegas. The online option will launch online (i.e., everywhere) in September. Price upon request.
Attention, brides-to-be: Customizable heels also make for awesome bridal and bridesmaid shoe options. So which styles do you like best? Do you like the idea of customized shoes?
