CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Police arrested three people in the death of the Charlotte father killed Thursday at South Oak Crossing Apartments.
Police charged Antonio Cousart and Darryl Truesdale with murder and Maurice Wilson with accessory after the fact, and both with possession of a firearm by a felon.
Officers said they arrested Cousart and Wilson Friday morning without incident. Truesdale was arrested Friday afternoon.
But police are not talking about a motive or why they think the men killed Bennett Miller.
Miller didn't have a criminal record and his sister told Channel 9 off camera he was an upstanding husband and father of two.
She said Miller was a hard-working welder.
She said Miller had just picked up his children from school and came to this apartment complex to see a friend who was struggling in life.
She believes that person "set him up."
It's not clear if that's what investigators think or whether the two children were there when Miller was killed.
Miller's sister also said she had just spoken on the phone with Miller before the shooting. '
She said the conversation lasted 18 minutes, and that Miller teased her about the Panthers game coming up Thursday night.
He was a Panthers fan. She is a Steelers fan.
She said Miller was shot four minutes after she hung up.
