Elden Ring is finally out, which triggered an interesting but predictable reaction on social media like Reddit: a mass exodus to avoid spoilers.
The Elden Ring Reddit community is about to slow down and take a well-earned break. After years of memes, supporting FromSoftware, and waiting for gameplay reveals, most of the players are taking a break to focus on their playthrough.

As showcased in this humoristic thread, several Elden Ring fans have left the subreddit. This is in order to avoid spoilers. The subreddit has a great community and is self-maintained very well by the fans themselves and moderators. They’re doing a great job with spoilers and most are removed on sight.
However, many players don’t wish to take any risks. And most players simply want to play the game in peace, taking some distance from Reddit. Furthermore, one of the most interesting aspects of games directed by Hidetaka Miyazaki is discovering and unraveling their elements by yourself.
Many Elden Ring fans on Reddit are also fans of past Souls games, so they’d rather discover as much as possible instead of checking out guides and tips from other players. That’s why I don’t see them coming back to Reddit to ask for help on how to deal with a boss or quest.
What do you all think? Are you taking a break from Reddit and social media as a whole to avoid Elden Ring spoilers? Tell me in the comments below!
Elden Ring is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
