Christian Bale decided to end his decade-long feud with his mother Jenny James after the two had a major falling out just before the premiere of 'The Dark Knight' in 2008.
On Sunday night, the 45-year-old actor attended the EE Baftas and was nominated under the 'Best Actor ' category for his role as Dick Cheney in Vice. As reported by the Mirror, Bale's mother Jenny shared, "Yes, we are talking. I know Christian is in London."
The two had a falling out when Bale's sister accused him of pushing their mother at the Dorchester hotel in London because of an argument related to his wife Sibi. Bale was arrested as a result but released without charge. His family did take back their statements but Bale did not speak to them after.
It has been reported that the family was arguing over money but Jenny has always maintained that it was not. Jenny also revealed that she had queued up along with fans at a subsequent premiere to try and see her son who ignored all her attempts to reach him.
She further added how she would often stay up late at home watching him bag awards at various ceremonies, but he would refuse to return any of her calls. In 2014, Jenny shared, "I have tried nearly every day to get back in touch. I have been sending him emails regularly and sent lots on his 40th birthday last month. It’s great to know he is back in the country and so close."
"It would be lovely if we could meet up. The ball is in his court. Six years is long enough. It’s sad for me. It’s sad for him, too. His grandma Edna is 90 now and she wants contact with him, and it’s his 40th coming up. It would be a wonderful time to get back together so we could all be a family again," she added.
"I want to reach out to him. I hope he reads this and gets in touch. I hope we can get back to how we used to be," she continued. She has seen all of her son's hit films such as ' 'American Psycho', and the 'Batman' series to try and heal her broken heart.
At the time, she shared, "I have them all. Every one he’s made. Then sometimes Christian will come up on TV in one of his films. I’ll be flicking through the channels and suddenly there he is, looking at me from the TV. I think, ‘Oh God’ and carry on watching," she revealed.
