Can Sarah Silverman's Red Carpet Style Be Saved?

The Met's Costume Institute Gala is one of the most important fashion events of the year. And Silverman attended it in...a Lucille Ball-style polka dot skirt and striped fingerless gloves. Ouch.

And finally, we've got what I'm guessing is Silverman's take on cute-and-casual for a recent visit to the Letterman show, which is really just offensive-and-unfortunate.

Don't get me wrong, I know she's a comedian and not a fashionista, but when you're in the public eye you've gotta make some kind of an effort, don't you? She's supposed to be making jokes, not becoming the butt of them. What do you guys think of Sarah Silverman's red carpet style? Can it be saved? How would you make her over?
