Indianapolis - Three men attempted to rob a Charter One branch inside a Kroger grocery store on the city's east side late Tuesday morning. No one was hurt, but the suspects are still at large.
It happened at the Kroger on 10th and Shadeland at around 11:45 am. An eyewitness who was inside the store at the time said three armed men came inside. There is a Charter One branch that shares a counter with the Kroger service desk at the front of the store. The eyewitness said the men went up to the counter, pulled a gun, demanded money, jumped the counter and fled. They got into a teal get-away car and took off.
Authorities found the car not far from the store a short time later in the 200 block of North Shortridge. They say the men escaped in a white van, and they are still at large.
No one inside the store was hurt, although employees were shaken by the incident. The store remains open as Marion County Sheriff's deputies investigate.
