We’re now almost two weeks into Season 12 of Apex Legends, but there’s still no sign of the Maelstrom LMG, which was originally data mined all the way back in Season 9.
However, thanks to a set of new voice lines found via the in-game files, leakers believe the new LMG could be right around the corner along with some other major gameplay changes.

New Apex Legends Voicelines Suggest Maelstrom LMG Coming Soon
According to Apex Legends leaker ThordanSmash, new voice lines from the Season 11 Legend Ash could be pointing to a bunch of new features and changes coming to Apex Legends in the near future.
The first data-mined voice line hears Ash say the line “med-station here”, which definitely suggests new med-stations will be appearing around the map for players to use and heal up.
Ash’s second voice line hears her say “maelstrom here”, which confirms that the previously leaked LMG will be coming to the game pretty soon. In fact, ThordanSmash believes that the recent leak indicates the weapon is practically ready for release. Meaning we could see it released during the current season.
The Maelstrom LMG was originally data-mined during Season 9 as the “Hailstorm”, but the files were removed in a later patch along with the Rampage LMG and C.A.R SMG, both of which are now released weapons in the game.
A leaked image of the Maelstrom shows that the weapon uses light rounds with a description that reads “Rapid machine gun. Ammo capacity increases +5 with each kill”.
Of course, as always, we recommend taking this information with a pinch of salt until it’s made official by Respawn Entertainment. Check out ThordanSmash’s full video below to check out the data-mined voice lines in action, and what the leaker believes they all mean.
