AMBER Alert for 4-year-old Brevard girl canceled – WSOC TV

BREVARD, N.C. — UPDATE 7:50 P.M.: The AMBER Alert for a 4-year-old Brevard girl has been canceled.

Annastasia Whiteside was found safe in Buncombe County Wednesday night.

Her father, Derrick Whiteside, was in custody on felony charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious bodily injury, police said.

Officers said the girl's mother was assaulted with a blunt instument earlier in the day by Whiteside at a Brevard home before he took the girl.

AMBER Alert issued for missing 4-year-old girl in Brevard

An AMBER Alert has been issued by the Brevard Police Department for a missing 4-year-old girl.

Annastasia Whiteside is described as about 3 feet  2 inches tall and weighing 40 pounds.

She has brown hair and brown eyes.

Her last known location was 27 Keith Court near Brevard.

The victim is believed to be with Derrick Gerard Whiteside, 49, who is described as black, about 5 feet  9 inches tall, weighing 170 pounds.

He has black hair and brown eyes.

The vehicle is a maroon 2007 Scion TC 2 Door with North Carolina license tag number AAS-2396.

Officials said the suspect may have switched to another vehicle: a white 2006 Dodge Caravan with North Carolina license tag number YNS-4164.
