Tomato juice has never really been my, um, cup of tea--it always seemed like cold soup without the bonus of a grilled cheese sandwich. So, for a while, I didn't totally get why anyone "shoulda had a V8." But please believe this version changed my mind....
Spicy Hot V8 is the tastiest blend of tomatoes, carrots, spinach, lettuce, celery, parsley, beets, and watercress. Which I know sounds sort of like an unsupervised party to which every veggie in the world was invited. But the added spice gives the juice some sass--so much so that I usually have to cut the heat with a whole-wheat cracker or two.
An 8-ounce serving is 50 calories, with 2 g fiber, 2 g protein, and zero fat. Plus, it's ultra-filled with vitamin C--120% of your RDA!--and vitamin A. (Psst, salt-watchers: try the low-sodium version, which has less than a third of the sodium of the regular kind.)
And would you think less of me if I told you I sometimes like to pretend it's a Bloody Mary?
Do you like veggie juice? Or V8 in any of its various incarnations?
