1. She’s Out Of Control (1989)
Way before Matthew Perry emerged as the hilarious and lovable Chandler Bing in FRIENDS, he appeared in Stan Dragoti’s 1989 indie comedy, She’s Out Of Control. Perry played the role of Timothy in the movie that focused on a father, who had to come to terms with his daughter’s growing up and dating life.
The film unfortunately failed to live up to its potential, and critics slammed it as a long-drawn viewing experience. But certainly, the underrated comedy had its own fun, that the actor’s fans must watch once.
2. Fools Rush In (1997)
Appearing in Andy Tennant’s 1997 drama, Matthew Perry starred alongside Salma Hayek, as the duo attempted to turn their one-night stand into a full-on marriage. This movie was Perry’s first big-screen role following FRIENDS. However, the movie failed to properly convey a message to the audiences and gained mixed reviews from critics. But, Perry’s underrated movie was undoubtedly “sweet” and “fun”.
3. Three To Tango (1999)
Matthew Perry yet again tried his luck in cinema, when he took up Damon Santostefano’s 1999 project Three To Tango. Playing the role of Oscar Novak in the classic romantic comedy, Perry tried to touch upon complicated issues of affairs at the workplace. Jonathan Lynn’s 2000 crime comedy The Whole Nine Yards, starring Perry, is a very fun movie that has ended up remaining incredibly underrated through the years. Failing to keep up to the same standard throughout, the film ended up missing out on the label of a great comedy. But for the most part, it’s a funny movie, that Perry’s fans must watch.
5. Serving Sara (2002)
Reaching the end of our list, we have Reginald Hudlin’s 2002 underrated comedy romance Serving Sara featuring Perry and Elizabeth Hurley. Apparently, while filming this movie, the actor was going through rehabilitation to fight his addiction. Whether Perry’s personal struggles affected the movie or not, critics found the film “forgettable”.
But trying to keep Matthew Perry’s legacy going, Serving Sara is one of the underrated but fun movies that his fans must give watch.
