4. Put up a balloon arch
Whatever your baby shower theme of choice, put up a balloon arch in a color palette that fits that theme! For instance, if you’re doing an “Under the Sea”-themed baby shower, use balloons in various shades of blue for your balloon arch. Balloon arches are an affordable and dramatic-looking outdoor baby shower idea. They’re also super easy to execute, especially if you buy a pre-made balloon arch kit like these ones from Party City.
You can make this idea even easier by booking a Peerspace, like this big backyard outdoor party space in Santa Clara that includes a balloon arch kit!
5. Pick a cohesive color scheme
Speaking of color palettes that go with your baby shower theme, we’d strongly suggest picking a color scheme that’s cohesive and consistent throughout your decor. You can even extend the color scheme to the food and drinks you serve, if possible. This doesn’t mean you have to pick just one color (although this can also be really cute), but using a combination of colors that go well together will help to make your decor look extra professional.
6. Provide comfortable seating
You definitely want to provide guests with lots of comfortable seating Especially for mama-to-be and any older relatives and friends who will be in attendance!
For portable outdoor furniture, Brit and Co suggests options like “a couple of poufs (lightweight ottomans will also do), a folding table, a bar cart and a breakfast-in-bed tray that doubled as a would-be coffee table”. We’d say that comfortable guests are basically required for a truly successful baby shower!
7. Bring portable speakers
A cordless Bluetooth speaker is an awesome alternative to wired speakers. And these days, they make ones that produce really high-quality sound.
Many Peerspace outdoor event venues already provide you with the use of a Bluetooth speaker. Check listing pages to see what your favorite venues include! If you have any questions or requests, simply reach out to the venue’s host and they will be happy to help. A Bluetooth speaker will allow you (or a friend with particularly great taste in music) to put together a playlist for your baby shower that’ll help maximize the good vibes at your event!
8. Set off confetti poppers
Here’s yet another idea that works way better outside than inside. We love the idea of setting off some confetti poppers (as long as you do so safely, of course). Many people even use the color of the confetti in their confetti poppers as part of their gender reveal, but that’s totally optional.
9. Floral centerpieces
Choose flowers in colors that suit your baby shower’s decor color palette (see #5 for our explanation of this) and use them as floral centerpieces for your seating area! Web Baby Shower suggests: “When outdoors, finding a good spot for photos can be challenging. Instead of wondering where the best place is, create it by setting up a small table with a huge flower centerpiece or another decoration if you prefer.”
If you live somewhere particularly warm where flowers are likely to wilt outdoors, fake flowers are an excellent, low-maintenance alternative. Better yet, book a Peerspace garden that provides you with fragrant, gorgeous flowers on-site! For instance, our friends based in New South Wales can book this private botanical garden in Kulnura.
